With the Delta Variant causing hospitalizations in Tallahassee, here are some ways to stay safe

With the Delta Variant of COVID-19 causing hospitalizations in Tallahassee, here are a few ways that you can stay safe

Some of the best advice on helping to normalize life and stop the spread of COVID-19 and the Delta Variant comes from the guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The nation’s infectious disease experts issue these guidelines in the interest of public health after examining multiple options and scenarios. At the top of the CDC’s advice is to get vaccinated, if at all possible because “vaccines help protect people from getting COVID-19 or from getting severely ill from it.”

CDC Vaccination info

If vaccinated, the CDC recommends:

  1. Since COVID-19 is transmissible through exposure to respiratory fluids that carry the virus, wear a mask indoors in areas of high transmission. Tallahassee has currently been identified by the CDC as an area of high transmission.
  2. Practice vigilant hand-washing.
  3. Stay home when sick.
  4. Practice social distancing and avoid crowds in high transmission areas.

If unvaccinated, the CDC recommends:

  1. Get vaccinated, if medically possible. The CDC says, “COVID-19 vaccination remains the most effective way to achieve control of the pandemic.”
  2. Practice vigilant hand-washing.
  3. Since the virus is transmissible through exposure to respiratory fluids that carry the virus, wear a mask indoors in areas of high transmission (this includes Tallahassee).
  4. Stay home when sick.
  5. Practice social distancing and avoid crowds.
